Introducing Lady Alyse, founder and creative force behind LOCt.Her love for dreadlocks began at just 12 years old with her first set of dreads. Having worn them on and off ever since, her passion for alternative hair evolved into teaching herself how to create her own dreadlocks, extensions and eventually making them for others.
In 2008, Alyse opened her first alternative retail store, where handmade dreadlocks became part of the business. What began as a creative passion gradually developed into a full time career, with further professional training from locticians around the world.
In 2020, LOCt was born in Taranaki, bringing together years of hands on experience, creativity and dedication to the craft. After successfully taking LOCt across the Tasman to Perth, Australia, Alyse has now returned to New Plymouth to begin the next chapter.
With over 20 years experience in the dreadlock world, Alyse specialises in natural crochet dreadlocks, custom extensions, maintenance, and alternative styles, helping clients embrace their individuality with confidence.

Meet Caelynn.
Caelynns dreadlock journey began over 6 years ago as a client of Lady Alyse, before her passion for the craft led her to complete an apprenticeship with LOCt.
Over the past 3 years, Caelynn has continued to develop her skills and build a loyal clientele.
Specialising in crochet dreadlock maintenance, dread washes and deep cleansing soaks, Caeylynn brings a gentle, caring approach to every appointment. And if you’ve experienced one of her famous head massages, you’ll know your in good hands!.

Meet Crystal (aka Bubi).The little princess of the team!
Bubi is our resident French Bulldog, professional napper and self-appointed welcoming committee.
When she’s not soaking up the sunshine or snoozing nearby, you’ll find her greeting visitors, enjoying plenty of attention and keeping a watchful eye on the salon.
Her special talents include snoring, stealing hearts and making everyone feel right at home.

When he’s not busy being the centre of attention, you’ll find him curled up somewhere comfortable, snoring his way through another busy day at LOCt.
